Top local artists (and members of world-renown graffiti crew TMD) Askew One, Elliot Francis Stewart (Deus) and Gary Silipa (Ryze) are holding a trio-exhibition that takes the ʻONE FIFTYʼ title to the extreme. The exhibition theme runs exclusively around the number ONE FIFTY. There will be ONE FIFTY pieces of art exhibited; each piece will be ONE FIFTYmm x ONE FIFTYmm; each item costs ONE FIFTY dollars; exhibition runs for ONE FIFTY minutes.
Itʼs a rare treat to have artists of this calibre exhibiting affordable works around such an exciting and novel concept. While ASKEW ONE multi-tasks in video making, publishing and graphic design, heʼs always pushing the boundaries amongst his NZ contemporaries to strive for international-level recognition in graffiti, canvas painting and large-scale public murals.
For ELLIOT FRANCIS STEWART, this show marks the return of a true inner city icon. Having taken a hiatus from exhibiting a significant body of work for the past five years, Elliot is definitely one of the most talented illustrators in Grey Lynn - he may even be the best in the world.
GARY SILIPA is a fine example of an artist starting out in a conventional ʻUniversity graduate/working classʼ mold to please normal thinking society, to breaking free in 2011 and chasing a passion for better ʻselfcompleteʼ living. Silipaʼs work portrays life-stories, challenges and personal successes to keep him going and true to his path in life.
